IMPULSE Wireless audio path selection and priority, and what to do if there is no audio from the VM3 speaker

TABLE OF CONTENTS

IMPULSE Wireless audio path selection and priority

The IMPULSE Wireless PTT application is able to route audio to a speaker, phone earpiece, Bluetooth or USB audio. You can set this in the app, as well as set the priority order of these different paths. The app will automatically use the highest priority audio path available.

If you have a VM3, you need to have Speaker or Headset set as your highest priority. This will have been set by default, however it is possible for users to change the setting. If you have Earpiece (the mobile phone symbol) selected, you won't hear audio from the loudspeaker, as the VM3 does not have an internal handset speaker.

Setting the priority of audio paths in the IMPULSE Wireless PTT application

Tap on the "hamburger menu" which is three lines at the top left of the screen

Near the top of the main menu, tap on the audio icon shown (speaker, headset, Bluetooth or Earpiece (mobile phone) icon).

The audio path selection widget will open. Tap on an audio path to put it to top priority. In the image below, my Bluetooth headset will be used when available. If I turn my Bluetooth headset off, the phone's loudspeaker will be used. If I wish to use USB audio instead of Bluetooth, I may tap on the USB audio path ("Headset: USB-Audio") and both the USB speaker and USB microphone audio will be used when available.

The main menu will open, and display a speaker, headset, Bluetooth or Earpiece (mobile phone) icon. The icon displayed indicates the currently active audio path. For a VM3, it needs to be either Speaker or Headset (depending on your microphone or handset). The audio path priority needs to be set as per the third screenshot, with Headset as highest priority and Speaker as second priority.
