Radio and PTT emergency functionality for buses
Traditional radio - Motorola Capacity Max (eg. the Orion Network in Australia).
When "hot mic" audio is to be transmitted along with an emergency, the GPS coordinates of the radio are not transmitted until after the emergency alarm is acknowledged and the initial Emergency Call is completed. This happens because - and we are using Motorola's words here - the location data has lower priority than the voice call.
It is our opinion that both the voice and location data are of high importance. In an ideal scenario, they would be transmitted simultaneously.
IMPULSE Wireless PTT
When the SOS button is pressed, location data is transmitted instantly, and "hot mic" audio is broadcast to all users configured to receive an Emergency.
This means that OCC and depot supervisors see the location of the user in distress immediately as well as hearing the live audio. They do not need to wait until the audio finishes to be able to see the live location of the user under duress.
